A New Orleans Writer and activist, Thomas Covington
Dent was born on
Charity Hospital in New
Orleans.
He was the oldest of three sons born to Dr. Albert Walter Dent and Ernestine Jessie Covington Dent. His brother's are Benjamin and Walter. Tom loved music, especially the music of the African diaspora.We appreciate the love and support we have received from the Tom Dent Tennis Tournament and we look forward to
continuing the legacy of Tom Dent.
Tom's works are preserved, cataloged, and available for study at the Amistead Research Center in New Orleans. For more comprehensive biography, click here.
